Grumble Jones November Scenario - GJ153 Shattered Bridgehead

November 2025 - it always amazes me how fast the years go by. Only one more Grumble Jones Scenario left for the year. December's scenario is in work and will be a Sgt. Rock scenario to properly bookend this year with Sgt. Rock scenarios. And yes...the Iron Major will make an appearance!!

It will be a fun and whacky ASL experience!

This month's scenario was generated utilizing AI. It's been a hot item of discussion inside and outside of the ASL community. Other wargame centered blogs, etc. have been creating scenarios using AI over the past month. In fact, the use of AI for personal and work related activities is very much on the upswing. I recently utilized AI extensively to create Supply Chain Management plans for cost and inventory reduction efforts. It's a great way to utilize AI, because those two efforts as an example are not revolutionary. There a truly a set method to attacking those problems. So the use of AI simply helps you quickly formulate and structure a solid plan. Of course, your competitors will end up with the exact same plan should they rely on AI. Personally, I believe that will be a bit of AI's downfall. Humans will always have some unique ideas based on something other than straight data. AI will similarly be confined to what data is available to search and incorporate. So we'll see how it pans out over time.

I used ChatGPT to create three different scenarios (before my free use expired for the day). It gave me a pretty decent Arnhem scenario, a late war bridge battle in East Prussia and the one I used for November. The November creation is a DASL scenario set at Anzio. I was genuinely impressed by its use of the correct squad nomenclatures and values. I did tweak some of its numbers as they were not sufficient, but overall, I was very pleased with what it created. I was also very specific in my ask, which allowed the AI to pluck a more or less historical situation. I will leave it up to you to determine if you agree with how well the AI put together the scenario.

For the record...I won't be doing this on a regular basis. I like the process of creating scenarios myself. Good or bad, that's more fun for me and I think better for the final product as well.

Here now is the November Scenario GJ153 Shattered Bridgehead...courtesy of ChatGPT.

As always, these monthly "Basement Quality" Scenarios are offered for fun only and as a thank you to the readers of this blog.
