Grumble Jones March Scenario GJ145 A Medal for Munro

Spring is in the air. After some truly frigid temperatures and icy winds, Tulsa is once again experiencing 60 degree weather and blue skies. Of course, we have to enjoy these days as scary season in Oklahoma also makes an appearance in the Spring. March and April can be frightening months for tornadoes.

This month's scenario is courtesy of another Osprey title.  On page 62, is a brief snippet about the heroics of Coast Guard Petty Officer Douglas Albert Munro.

Douglas Albert Munro is a very significant figure in the history of the United States Coast Guard. Here's a breakdown of key information regarding his Medal of Honor: Only Coast Guard Recipient: He is the sole member of the U.S. Coast Guard to have received the Medal of Honor, the nation's highest military decoration.

Heroic Actions: His Medal of Honor was awarded posthumously for his extraordinary heroism during the Guadalcanal Campaign in World War II, specifically during the Second Battle of the Matanikau on September 27, 1942.

He led the evacuation of a battalion of Marines who were trapped by Japanese forces at Point Cruz, Guadalcanal. He used his Higgins boat to shield the Marines from enemy fire, sacrificing his own life in the process. (written by AI - Google Gemini).

Yes, AI has arrived at Grumble Jones. We'll see how that goes. Certainly fewer grammatical and typographical errors with any luck!!!

This month's scenario is dedicated to the memory of  Coast Guard Petty Officer Douglas Albert Munro.

    1. Another good catch. Yes, it appears that I didn't drag the text box down far enough before I converted it into a JPEG. Thanks as always!
