Grumble Jones November Scenario GJ101 Van Lennepweg’s Garden

2021 continues to hurdle along and before you know it, we'll be into 2022. It's been another fun year for scenario creation and November's was a bit of fun to put together. I elected to create DASL scenarios for both November and December. I've really warmed up to DASL over the past two years. I wasn't a huge fan until recently. And I'll admit, I still prefer the regular maps, but a DASL game every now and then is nice change of pace.

By now, it's pretty commonplace for me to turn to Osprey's Combat Series for a quick and dirty scenario ideas. As I have mentioned many times, these provide outstanding scenario source material for ASL. Their price point is also generally very good. They vary on Amazon from the $15 to $24 dollar range. They are also fairly small and take up very little space while still delivering a good bit of content.

For this month's scenario, I would return to Arnhem. The fighting at Arnhem provides varied terrain features, with generally good troop types for both sides. While the SS Grenadiers at Arnhem were generally not quite as powerful as they were at beginning of the Normandy Campaign, they are nevertheless formidable fighters. The British are equally tough and especially so in the defensive fighting around Arnhem.

The final color plate in this volume deals with a sharp action at Koude Herberg road junction. SS Grenadiers accompanied by captured French Tanks would attempt to take the road junction, but the troops of C Company 1 Border would halt the attack with Brens and good shooting from a 6lb AT Gun.

As always these monthly "Basement Quality" Scenarios are offered for fun only and as a thank you to the readers of this blog.

Remember to open pictures in a new window in order to maximize the size.

And as always, these scenarios can be downloaded from The ASL Scenario Archive

(just search on Grumble Jones).
