Grumble Jones August Scenario GJ139 Kunikov's Schoolhouse

Summer 2024 has flown by as summers tend to do. This year's heat has been fairly normal in Oklahoma and even some good days overall. Not much to complain about. My wife and I have been getting out on our Segway Nine Scooters and exploring Tulsa's many trails. Great way to enjoy being outside in the Tulsa heat without becoming a sweaty mess. And we get to see more of the area than we could by just walking.

As far as ASL, it's been a great year thus far. Dan and I are of course playing every weekend and currently trying to play 3-4 games each weekend. That can be challenging of course. You might be playing too much ASL when you wife says it's time to head out to the grocery store and you mentally check to see if it's Movement Phase. But don't worry...I've haven't gone hand to hand with those folks blocking the aisles...at least not yet.

Workwise...I'm heading back to the Permian Basin in two weeks. Should be in Midland, Garden City and Pecos, TX during that week. Hard hats, steel toes and FR's in the oil patch.

This month's scenario is drawn from one of my favorite Osprey titles, The Kuban 1943....you know Steiner Cross of Iron territory.

This is the second design taken from this book. Lump Holds the Line was the first and the best of my scenarios submitted to the March Madness Team.

This scenario switches sides and depicts the actions of Soviet Major Kunikov. Kunikov and his 305th Naval Infantry Battalion would help the Soviets in their efforts to take the control of the Kuban after their actions in Ozereyka Bay went south.

This is a five-turn half-board scenario that plays quickly and could be a bit constrained if one side or the other throws too many boxcars early. The Germans in particular really need their single STUG. And likewise, the Russians need their ATR's and MMG. Support weapon malfunctions can quickly unbalance a small scenario.

Not much else to say and here it is this month's scenario. Enjoy it with a Cuban!!

As always, these monthly "Basement Quality" Scenarios are offered for fun only and as a thank you to the readers of this blog.
