January-February 1944 - Leutnant Paul Semrau held a 2 mile gap in the German lines at Anzio. With 20 men, 2 self-propelled guns and 1 tank destroyer, he took on all comers from the Scots and Irish Guards. For his efforts, he received his Knight's Cross.
