As this blog will be dedicated to Advanced Squad Leader and all it's many incarnations, it is only fitting that the first post be titled Rally Phase. Having played the game for so many years, it still amazes me how little understanding I still have of so many of the rules. I particularly struggle with the armor rules and still find them very cumbersome compared with the those I had so much fun with in the Cross of Iron days. And while I love ASL, I still find myself longing for the simpler and enjoyable game play of original Squad Leader. I suppose for me, playing the game was and continues to be more important than an encyclopedic understanding of the rules.
So let's get this blog started and see where it takes us.
