Museum of the 8th Air Force

On work travel currently in Vidalia, Georgia...2 week stint that is half-way over. After work today, since it was Saturday, I left around Noon and headed towards Savannah to see the Museum of the 8th Air Force. Couldn't think of a better way to get out of the hotel room for a while.

As for the museum itself...well it wasn't too bad. Nice building, great memorials honoring the various units that made up the 8th Air Force. Not a lot of planes, but a B-17 under restoration, an ME-109 and a Mustang were the notables. The other exhibits were well done and the 1/72 scale airfield dirorama was outstanding with the 1/72 Ploesti Raid diorama coming in second place. Good stuff overall.

Looking forward to heading back to Tulsa on Friday...6 more days to go...

  1. Sounds like a great place to visit. That church looks like it could be straight out of an English village!
Hope you get home safe and sound.
