Should I attend my first Tournament???

Having played SL and ASL since 1978, I feel like I know the game..but then I realize that I haven't "really" mastered the rules to the extent that one might expect of someone who's played the game for so long. And to top it off...I played pretty much the same opponent since 1989. So whatever rules we learned wrong...well we keep playing 'em wrong.

So how badly might I embarrass myself by attending a tournament....and does that even matter?

Anyone else out there, who has played a significant tournament? What should I expect and how best do I prepare for it?

I would love to expand my ASL experience and I realize I can only do that by taking the next leap...just don't want to break any bones!!!

Appreciate any comments, insights, warnings, etc.!

Thanks in advance.

  1. I've never attended one, but I eat they're very fun and help you learn the game even better. I also hear you learn a lot of different play styles and tactics that you would never think of on your own.

I'm sure it's a great group that would welcome a newb...a newb to the tourney scene.

  2. Go!

You are fortunate to live so close to this venue. I have never been, but would attend in a heartbeat if it was within 10-12 hours drive of my place. It is an ideal tourney for first-timers and grognards alike. You will wonder afterward why you had not attended before.

Start your annual pilgrimage this June!

Remember, everything is bigger in Texas, including the ASL. :)
